Shows and practices
The Manage menu at the top holds the band's calendar: Shows and Practices, each a page of what is coming up and what has been played, and the Set lists you play from. Shows and practices belong to the account, so every member sees them; nothing on these pages is public.
Putting one on the calendar
Press New show (or New practice), give it a day, a title if it has one ("with The Night Shift", "Album release") and the venue, and it opens for editing. A show without a title is called after its venue and day.
A show's page has four sections:
- When and where. The day, the showtime, when it ends, load-in and sound check as the venue's clock reads them (no time zones: a time on a poster is the venue's time), and the venue, picked from your list or found across Stem Shovel.
- Venues. A venue is a place you play or rehearse, entered once. Venues are shared by every band on Stem Shovel (the name, address, city, map link and website are facts about the place; keep them accurate for everyone), while your notes about it (parking, the back door, the house engineer) and your contact there are your band's alone. Venues in the Manage menu lists yours, each with every show and practice there; the Shows page filters by venue.
- Practice locations. A practice has a location instead of a venue: a name, the address and notes, saved once for your band and picked for every practice there. Practice locations in the Manage menu lists them; the Practices page filters by location. The status moves from planned to confirmed to played, or canceled; a canceled show stays on the record.
- Poster. Upload the show's poster (a PDF or an image) before the night. Its menu opens or downloads it for printing, and Copy link gives a permanent address to text or email; and the poster is the show's picture on the Shows page and at the top of its page. Replace it when the design changes.
- Photos. After the night, add the pictures. They sit in a gallery on the show's page; tap one to see it large, step through them, give each a caption, and download the ones you want.
- Set lists. The set lists you will play, in order, each with a label ("Set 1", "Encore"). Choose a set list from the account's and it is attached at once; drag the sets into order, and open any set's editor or its show view from here. One set list can serve two shows, or two sets of one show.
- Recordings. The session recordings of the night. Choose a session from the account's and it is linked at once, its recordings a click away; a session belongs to one show or practice at a time.
- Notes. The plan for the night, then how it went, for posterity.
Practices have the same page without the show-only fields.
Browsing
The dashboard's Upcoming block shows the next few shows and practices across your bands with how soon they are. Its Calendar feed button copies a private link your calendar app can subscribe to, so shows and practices land on your phone's calendar as they are added or moved; keep the link to your band. The day before a show or practice, every member gets a reminder in the inbox (and by email, per the Show reminders setting).
The Shows page lists what is Upcoming, soonest first, and what is Past, newest first, each under its venue, day and time. The Practices page does the same for rehearsals. Deleting a show or practice removes it from the calendar and unlinks its sessions and sets; the sessions and set lists themselves stay.
