Accounts and members

Accounts and members

An account is the workspace a group shares: its projects, songs and members. Account settings in the account menu is where owners and admins manage it.

Roles

  • Owner: created the account; can do everything.
  • Admin: everything an owner can, including inviting people and managing settings.
  • Member: uploads, edits songs and documents, comments.

Anyone can view any public song by its link regardless of role. People who should only listen and comment are viewers, invited to a project rather than the account (below).

Inviting by email

Enter an address and a role and send. The person gets an email with a link; if they do not have an account yet, the link lets them create one with that address and joins them straight away. Pending invitations are listed and can be revoked.

Invite codes

A code is for handing out in person or pasting into a message. Generate one with a role, an optional note (who it is for), a use limit and an expiry; copy the code or the sign-up link, and revoke it when it should stop working. Anyone who signs up with it joins the account.

People on a project

Every member of the account is on every project. A project's settings have a People section for two more cases:

  • Viewers: someone outside the account who should hear one project and comment on it, such as a producer, a label or a friend. Any member who can edit the project invites them by email from there. A viewer can play the project's songs and stems, read its charts, lyrics and notes, and leave comments; they cannot change anything, and they do not take one of the account's seats. Remove them from the same list.
  • Restricted projects: turn on Restrict to the people added and only the people listed there, plus the account's owners and admins, can open the project. Other members of the account do not see it. Add the members who should be on it from the same section.

Usage

The settings page shows how many projects, songs and stems the account holds and how much storage they use.

Managing members

In Account settings, owners can change anyone's role, including making someone else an owner to hand the account over, and remove members. Admins can set members and remove them. The last owner cannot leave or be demoted.

Belonging to several accounts

You can be an owner of one account and a member of others. The account menu at the top right shows your role in each and switches between them; Your accounts lists them all, and you can leave any account there. Pages outside an account, such as the docs, treat the account you last opened as yours.

Starting another account

Once you belong to any account you can start another of your own: New account in the account menu, or on the Your accounts page. You become its owner and invite people from its settings.

Your own workspace

Someone who signs up with a new-account code gets a workspace of their own. Joining through an invitation or an account's code puts you straight into that account, without a separate workspace.
