Chat

Chat

Every song has a chat: a running conversation for the people on the project. The speech-bubble button at the top of the song page, beside Share, opens it as a panel of its own, so you can talk and read the chart or lyrics at the same time. Comments are for notes about a spot in the song; the chat is for talking.

Who sees it

Anyone who can comment on the song: the account's members, and the people added to the project, viewers included. Visitors with a share link, and anyone looking at a public song without signing in, do not see the button.

Writing

Type in the box at the bottom and press Enter to send; Shift+Enter starts a new line. Messages are plain text, up to 2000 characters.

  • A web address becomes a link.
  • A position written as time, like 1:23 or 0:45.5, becomes a button that jumps the player there.

On the project page

Each song's tile counts its messages, and a badge beside the tile shows how many you have not read; click it and the song opens with its chat up.

Reading

Messages run oldest to newest, with a line where the day changes. A New line marks where you left off, and the chat button shows a dot while there are messages you have not seen. The chat refreshes itself every few seconds while the panel is open.

Editing and deleting

Hover a message of your own for Edit and Delete. An edited message says so. Account owners and admins can delete anyone's message.

Notifications

A new message reaches everyone on the project in their inbox, folded into one item per song. It goes to email with the same setting as comments (Settings → Notifications).

Sessions

A practice or a show on the Sessions page has a chat of its own, from the Chat button in the session's header. It works the same way, for everyone in the account, with a dot on the button for messages you have not seen; a time in a message jumps the session player there.
