Comments

Comments are notes about a song, often about a spot in it, in the place the song lives. Any signed-in member of the account can comment on any song in it. For talking rather than noting, every song also has a chat.

Reading comments

Comments at the start of the Comments row under the stems (with the count) opens the Comments panel, which lists them oldest first, with who wrote each and when. A comment with a position shows it as a link that jumps the player there. Edited comments carry an edited badge.

Comments with a position also appear as icons on the Comments row under the stems, drawn over the waveform of the whole mix. Click an icon to read the comment right there; a line marks the spot.

Leaving a comment

  • At a spot in the song: hold ⌘ (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows), or right-click, on the Comments row, any stem's waveform or a piano roll, and choose Comment here. The position is filled in.
  • About the song in general: open the Comments panel and press +. The position is optional and can be typed in timecode or bars.

A comment has a short title and the text itself.

Editing and deleting

You can edit and delete your own comments from the list or from the card on the timeline. Account owners and admins can delete anyone's.

Demos and session recordings

A song's demo recordings and the band's session recordings take comments too, each on its own waveform: in the song's Demos view under the demo that plays, and on the Sessions page from a recording's comments button. They work as a song's comments do, with positions as time (1:23.4): ⌘-click, Ctrl-click or right-click the waveform for Comment here, or the pencil by the heading for a comment in general. A demo's comments stay with the demo and out of the song's own comments; a notification's link opens the demo or the recording.
